Not Even Microsoft

Not Even Microsoft

I recently started auditing a class at a seminary and they use Microsoft Teams for those who are attending online.

I chose to attend online since the course runs from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and I’m awake by 4:10 a.m.

I thought “I’ve got this” and “Microsoft has got me and will store this complex password.”  Well, little did I know that I’d be knocked down really fast.

The course professor sent lecture notes ahead of time, but he didn’t use MS Teams, he sent it via email with a link to a different app.  The password that I had entrusted to Microsoft to remember for this (nearly) 62-year old didn’t work since it was sent to an app not within the MS Teams environment.

I couldn’t get the lecture notes ahead of time. Not a big deal.

What is a big deal is realizing that nothing – not our beloved Microsoft, or anything or anyone else, can be fully trusted.  That’s right, nothing, no one (I can’t even trust myself), can be fully trusted.

This insignificant password experience (just like every other thing ought to) points up to God, and only being able to trust God fully. He’s the only one that’s worthy of being fully trusted. He’s the only unchanging thing there is. He’s the only one that keeps all (every single last one) of his promises.

Get off that horizontal rowing machine … get onto that vertical stair climber … look up … not across, to Microsoft or to others. Looking up is what matters – it’s what will change your life and make you ever the more thankful for God’s work in your life. Remember, it’s about the vertical, not the horizontal.

It’s so utterly marvelous that we can hang on to every single one of God’s promises. Everything he promised, you can hold him to and take that promise to the bank.  This is currency that will never expire. God also reminds us that we can take his promises to the bank … think of the rainbow … always see it as a reminder that God keeps his promises.

Here’s the Amazon link to the ESV Reader’s Bible … it’s very quickly become my favorite to read – there are no verse numbers (so I don’t use this one while at church) so that makes me feel like I’m even more “in” Scripture without the added “clutter” of the verse numbers. https://amzn.to/4g0UuYa
